I'm a Central-Texas based Full Stack Software Engineer, currently working at IAAWG helping build modern, greenfield applications for automobile warranty products.
When I'm not coding, you'll find me strumming my lefty Martin guitar, feeding my hummingbird charm, tending to my okra garden, or wandering through the scenic landscapes of Comal County and Central Texas.
I have been a software engineer for over 23 years and I am currently based in New Braunfels, Texas USA. I enjoy programming in the Microsoft stack and beyond. I advocate for high code coverage testing, agile principles and practices, continuous integration and delivery, test-driven development, and domain-driven design. I enjoy challenging problems and debugging complex scenarios and edge cases and finding the source of truth.

Orchestrated the development and ongoing maintenance of four pioneering ASP.NET Core projects for automobile warranty products under iAAWG. These initiatives encompassed payment, claims, contracting, VIN decoding, and reporting systems, tailored for the North American vehicle aftermarket. Expertly transformed mission critical legacy systems, which had over two decades of operational history, into modern, Azure-based cloud solutions. Spearheaded the introduction of comprehensive testing protocols, including unit, integration, architectural, functional, end-to-end, and load testing, resulting in extensive CI/CD coverage, high code reliability, and minimal bug reports from users. Deployed innovative local database testing methodologies powered by PowerShell automation. Standardized team coding practices and led rigorous code and peer review processes. Adapted Azure pipeline YAML configurations to meet evolving requirements. Crafted robust security strategies and authorization frameworks in alignment with corporate standards. Utilized design patterns such as CQRS, Mediator, Strategy and architecture such as Clean and Vertical Slice for enhanced scalability and maintainability. Seamlessly integrated Azure Application Insights for targeted request and exception logging, significantly elevating APM observability and improving help desk support response times.
Lead development efforts and maintenance of the Incentive Commission Program, an internal financial incentive payout application for the Western Alliance Bank Corporation (Phoenix, AZ) and the Bank of Nevada. Played a key role in transitioning and migrating applications to Azure cloud. Successfully migrated JIRA backlog and sprints to Azure DevOps and Team Foundation Server 2019. Managed backlog, sprint planning, and supported release deployments and documentation. Troubleshot production SSIS packages for commission payments. Mentored junior team members remotely, facilitated code reviews, GIT pull request approvals, and contributed to architectural design and maintenance strategies. Assisted in migrating database servers from SQL 2012 to SQL 2016, adhering strictly to WAB security protocols and training.
Led the planning, architecture, development, testing, release, and support of web 2.0 initiatives in the LMCI department of TWC. Re-designed legacy applications into modern web applications for both public and internal use, consistently meeting deadlines and project goals. Involved in all project phases. Technologies utilized: C#, WebAPI 2, Entity Framework, OData v4, Linq-to-EF, HTML5, Bootstrap 4, jQuery 3.1, JavaScript (ES6), Backgrid/Backbone, and Kendo UI Professional, targeting mobile browsers and devices supporting IE, Chrome, and Safari. Received the Center For Digital Government “Best of Texas Award” for Data Application category in both 2018 & 2019, with recognition of effort from the Texas Governor Greg Abbott's office.
